One would have erased Obama's statute and replaced it with a more constricted government health care role, and the other would have annulled the law and given Congress two years to replace it. But health care proved to be much tougher than those. In other words, it is time for a bipartisan approach to our health care problems. Meantime, the House was moving ahead on "martial law", meaning if the Senate sent a bill the House members could act in a day, even this weekend. (more...)

The White House had objected to a key provision that requires Trump to get approval from Congress to waive any of the bill's sanctions against Russian Federation, and that provision was not changed. Some senators consider the bill too broad because it targets North Korea and Iran as well.
