Yesterday, the storms closest projected point to Bermuda within 72 hours was forecasted to be 397 nautical miles to the west-southwest at 6pm on Sunday. For a time , it was a risky Category 4 storm, with 150-mph winds. It is expected to regain hurricane strength. Jose is the sixth named hurricane of the Atlantic basin season, which lasts through November. (more...)

The eye of the storm was visible and surrounded by powerful thunderstorms. Forecasters said Jose had slightly weakened overnight, but said it is still a "dangerous" category 4 hurricane. A hurricane watch remained in effect for Antigua. Evacuations continue to be in place for regions which will be affected by the storm. The agency said that Jose is "expected to restrengthen by the weekend". Jose will then lift to the northeast and hopefully out into the Atlantic by the middle and end of next week. One of the tropical waves, which is 800 miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands, has friendly waters ahead as it moves west at about 15 mph. The National Hurricane Center on Friday morning put CT in the possible path of Tropical Storm Jose . It's 445 miles east of the Bahamas and moving slowly west at 3 mph.
