High winds snapped power lines and left nearly 6.5 million homes and businesses without power in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama, state officials and utilities said. The forecast from the hurricane center has Jose reaching 75 mph - hurricane strength is 74 mph - in 36 hours. The US National Hurricane Centre said that as a depression, Katia was blowing maximum sustained winds of almost 35 miles per hour and should dissipate over the mountains of central eastern Mexico later on Saturday. TurkStat announced that imports of goods and services also increased by 2.3 percent in the same period.
