On the other end of the stick lie Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana, not-so-OK Oklahoma and, lastly, nearly heaven West Virginia. Locally, we are watching the storm for potential impacts for MS by late Monday through Wednesday - but we will not see the major hurricane such as the Florida peninsula will see over the next 24 - 30 hours. Irma will only be a remnant hurricane by the time it arrives in Virginia. Coastal flooding from higher than normal high tides will affect Georgetown County, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, North Carolina, but a storm surge watch is yet to be issued for the county.
