The Swiss authorities constructed the bridge over the Grabengufer ravine within a mere 10 weeks time. Europabrücke replaced another bridge destroyed by falling rocks, and was specifically designed not to sway back and forth. The local tourist authority warns that the high bridge is "for hikers with no fear of heights". Goldman Sachs Group Inc. raised its stake in Telefonica Brasil by 60.4% in the first quarter. The brokerage presently has a "buy" rating on the stock. Telefonica Brasil had a net margin of 9.41% and a return on equity of 5.91%. The firm had revenue of $3.33 billion for the quarter. Crews are taking two approaches to restore power to Hatteras and Ocracoke islands. North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said the state was offering all available resources to help efforts to manage the crisis and restore power quickly. Officials said about 9,000 customers were without power on the two islands - about 7,700 on Hatteras and another 1,300 on Ocracoke. There's a chance Minden will see record high temperatures this week with the best odds on Wednesday. The record high temperature for August 1 is 102 degrees set in 2000. The hot temperatures will create a unsafe situation in which heat illnesses are possible. They warn it could even reach 108 in more inland towns. While Walker County Police haven't released information on how the 12 inmates were able to pull off their escape, there have always been concerns over the jail's security. The sheriff's office is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the capture of the inmates. Check back for more updates.
