A woman in the US has a 12.4 percent, or 1 in 8, lifetime risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer. On average, every 2 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer and 1 woman will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes. The theory behind this states that several harmful pathogens could be carried in saliva and dental plaque, or through diseased gum tissues into the blood circulation leading to the cause of the disease.
