Swiss and American researchers from Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, ETH Zurich and the University of IL looked at five such rubber toys and found that four of them contained bacteria including legionella that can cause serious lung disease called legionnaire's disease. Statistics released by the National Crime Agency (NCA) show the number of potential victims of slavery has increased by 35 percent to 5,145 since 2016. There's been a big rise in the number of victims who are United Kingdom nationals - until now the majority of recorded cases of modern slavery were people of other nationalities, who are often trafficked into the United Kingdom and forced to work to repay debts. The Vancouver Fire Department is urging people to check for recalled smoke alarms. About 452,000 models PI2010 and PI9010 were sold in the US and an additional 40,000 in Canada. The company says yellow protective caps on some alarms were not removed during the manufacturing process. The building was evacuated and an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team from Fort Belvoir, Va. examined the package, which tested positive for black powder and residue. In the statement, Army Lt. Col. Michelle L. Baldanza said "this incident is now under investigation".
