Tesla updates battery software after third Model S burns while parked

Another Fire Sees Tesla Push Software Update to Model S and Model X

Tesla is rolling out a software update for two of its electric vehicles, including the flagship Model S, to beef up battery safety as part of a probe into a vehicle fire in Hong Kong.

The company has joined forces with first responders and briefed them on protocols that need to be followed while dealing with any type of electric vehicle battery fires.

With this more efficient design, the Model S and Model X can now achieve 200kW on V3 Superchargers and 145kW on V2 Superchargers allowing customers to recharge 50% faster.

Electric auto manufacturer, Tesla Inc has always prioritized the thermal management of its vehicles' battery packs while designing its EVs.

But let's unpack, briefly, what might be going on with these Teslas-and why there isn't necessarily cause to worry just yet. Tesla earlier confirmed it was examining an incident in Shanghai after a vehicle bearing the company's logo was shown in an April social media video emitting smoke before bursting into flames. Back then a video surfaced showing a parked Model S spontaneously combusting in a parking lot, right next to other cars.

Bill de Blasio Unloads on Trump: 'Low Energy . . . Trickster'
We know his tricks. "I did a counter video, by the way, you should take a look at, and I noted that his video was very low energy. De Blasio asserted that there was no end in sight and that the President didn't have a strategy.

The battery packs of the Tesla cars in question caught fire in Asia and received substantial attention from the public. We don't yet know the exact circumstances of those fires, but we can hazard a guess: thermal runaway, which is a chain reaction resulting in the rapid release of heat energy, hence the flames. The already updated software alters the battery charge and thermal management settings to ensure occupant's safety. We assume those electronic nannies weren't loosened.

There have been at least 14 instances of Tesla cars catching fire since 2013, a lot of them following a crash. Mostly, other battery pack does not have any problem.

ONE of Tesla's key suppliers may hold the key to how soon we see the maker's future models in Australia.

The auto drove beneath the trailer, killing the driver, in a crash that is strikingly similar to one that happened on the other side of Florida in 2016 that also involved use of Autopilot.

Compared with regular, combustion-engine-powered vehicles, electric auto fires can't be put out with foam or chemicals.
