Trump's order clear hurdles to bar Huawei from U.S. telecommunication Network

‘US lagging behind in 5G’: China’s Huawei says Trump’s ban only hurts American consumers

"This is a direct message to Europe about how it should be thinking of the future of its 5G networks", says Paul Triolo, geotechnology head at political consultancy Eurasia Group.

And because Huawei has been added to the Entity List, U.S. firms will need to get a license from the Bureau of Industry and Security in order to sell or transfer technology to Huawei, according to CNBC.

The UK is still reviewing its 5G telecoms policy and may allow Huawei to supply "non-core" 5G components, such as antenna masts.

5G's importance to emerging industries and its reliance on a complex mixture of software and hardware have countries like the US anxious that adversaries could easily hack the networks to access user data and divert communication traffic to their own servers.

These restrictions are expected to affect USA subsidiaries of foreign companies, which are "U.S. persons" subject to the new regime, as well as US companies' business with any foreign companies that have contracts with entities like Huawei that involve information or communications technology or services.

"We are ready and willing to (talk to) the USA government and come up with effective measures to ensure product security", the company said in a statement.

The Trump administration has pressured its allies to preemptively ban Huaweiequipment from their5G networks, with limited success. While many countries around the world share Washington's suspicion - even hostility - towards Beijing, they are unwilling to take the economic hit that openly standing apart from China would entail. US stocks were also poised to open modestly higher, with Dow futures and the broader S&P 500 futures up 0.3 percent.

China threatened to retaliate, accusing Mr Trump of engaging in industrial sabotage by using state security "as a pretext for suppressing foreign business". In principle, the U.S. Export Administration Act of 1979 applies to all products that contain more than 25 percent of U.S. products or software. Let's wait for the new order and does it have any good news for Huawei.

The move announced Wednesday states, among other requirements, that US firms must seek government approval before doing business with Huawei.

It was claimed yesterday that Dutch intelligence services were investigating whether Huawei had helped create a cyber "back door" for Chinese spies. Huawei also makes Windows laptops, with Microsoft providing the operating system.

British ministers have discussed giving Huawei a restricted role in building parts of its 5G network.

Chinese telecoms equipment maker Huawei has a hidden "backdoor" on the network of a major Dutch telecoms firm, making it possible to access customer data, newspaper De Volkskrant said on Thursday, citing unidentified intelligence sources.

The main area of interest now is Huawei's 5G networking technology, which is said to be low-priced and powerful. He was referring to the thousands of antenna stationsthat will process 5G bandwidth.

Huawei was the world's third largest purchaser of semiconductors a year ago, accounting for 4.4% of global market share, behind only Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and Apple Inc, according to Gartner, a research firm.

However, there are reports that India may limit Huawei's involvement in developing its 5G infrastructure. Last year, Huawei was the world's second-largest mobile phone supplier by sales after Samsung.

"The isolationist approach they recommend may support an America first trade agenda but it's hard to see how it's in UK's national interest", Huawei said, adding it was an independent company which took no instructions from Beijing. Huawei is now purchasing $67 billion worth of semiconductor-related parts from about 92 major suppliers every year.
