Jurgen Klopp lauds battling Liverpool after they're edged out on final day

Liverpool Alexander-Arnold

Yesterday afternoon we saw Manchester City become the first team in the Premier League since Manchester United in 2009 to win back to back Premier League titles.

The Reds need Manchester City to slip up against Brighton and have to take three points off Wanderers on Sunday if they are to win the league.

Trailing Liverpool by seven points when they hosted them in January at the Etihad in Jurgen Klopp's side only league defeat of the season, City won 14 league games in a row following on from their loss to Newcastle later that month. Yet even he could not conceive of amassing 97 points in a league season, let alone that mark only being good enough for second place.

Tuesday's astonishing 4-0 win against Barcelona, which overturned a 3-0 first-leg deficit and sent Liverpool to their second successive Champions League final, was one of the greatest nights in the club's history.

Not only that but Pep Guardiola's insatiable team were already thinking beyond the magnificent 2018-19 campaign and contemplating a third straight English title win next season with the Spaniard having said they will get even better.

"Nobody has lost this Premier League, it's been won - and it's been won by an unbelievable team that have set the standard".

Klopp pointed to City's financial power, backed by the club's Abu Dhabi owners, as a principal reason why they will not be easy to overhaul. If we are ready to make the next step, we will.

The Huawei logo stands on a Huawei office building in Dongguan in China's southern Guangdong province on 18 December 2018. In December, Huawei CFO Wanzhou Meng was arrested in Canada on suspicion of violating US sanctions concerning Iran.

He said: "It is hard to prepare a team for a situation like that - we score and Brighton score, stay calm".

However, unlike Manchester United, who ended the season as close to the relegation zone as they were to City, 32 points behind the champions in sixth, City have invested their money wisely. There is more to come from us.

"We've come up against an incredible team, but this team isn't bad as well".

"I can not deny I am so exhausted, but at the same time winning the title gives you a lot of energy", said Guardiola on Sunday.

'It is in watching Guardiola on the sidelines that we see the stress, the agony, the pressure that has been relentless since setting out last August, requiring 18 wins out of 19 since Christmas to stay ahead of Jurgen Klopp's brilliant Liverpool'.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, whose post-match press conference began with just one reporter seated as Liverpool held their lap of honour, paid tribute to the Reds and City.

"They know we are here and hopefully here to stay now".
