‘Egg boy’ becomes a viral hit after egging controversial Australian politician

Footage of the incident shows a young man watching Senator Anning from the sidelines before he starts filming with his mobile phone, and then smashes the egg on the back of the senator's head.

Senator Anning struck the 17-year-old twice after the teenager broke an egg on his head while he spoke to media at a political meeting in Moorabbin, in Melbourne's south-east yesterday.

The clash followed a scathing response to Senator Anning's press release in which he appeared to deflect responsibility for Friday's attack from the gunmen to New Zealand's immigration program.

"In his conflation of this horrendous terrorist attack with issues of immigration, in his attack on Islamic faith specifically - these comments are appalling and they're ugly and they have no place in Australia, in the Australian Parliament", Morrison said. "Those views have no place in Australia, let alone the Australian Parliament", Morrison tweeted.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews today slammed Senator Anning for his "ignorant" views, following his widely condemned statements about Friday's deadly attack.

The prime minister announced the government would censure him.

In an August 2018 speech before the Australian parliament, Anning said "the final solution to the immigration problem, of course, is a popular vote", invoking a term used by leaders of Nazi Germany to refer to the Holocaust.

Trump says Brexit has gone 'badly' because Theresa May ignored his advice
Speaking ahead of a private meeting with Mr Varadkar, the USA president said Brexit was "tearing countries apart". Trump also lamented he was "surprised at how badly it has all gone from the standpoint of negotiating".

Former Australian prime minister Malcolm Turnbull also called Mr Anning's comments "contemptible".

Aiming to raise $2,000 for him to pay any potential legal fees and "buy more eggs", it had eclipsed $5,000 by 11:00 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time Saturday morning.

In a video posted to Twitter overnight, the young man is seen walking down the street saying: "Don't egg politicians, you get tackled by thirty bogans at the same time, I learnt the hard way".

The senator, Fraser Anning of Queensland, had been speaking to reporters Saturday in Melbourne at a right-wing rally. "He is a disgrace to the Senate, and what is worse, by spreading hatred and turning Australians against each other, he is doing exactly what the terrorists want".

'You are a hero, we are proud of you, greeting you from Libya respect, ' one user wrote. Dubbed "Egg Boy" by the internet at large, videos of him egging Anning have garnered worldwide attention.

"While Muslims may be the victims today, usually they are the perpetrators", Anning said.
