No excuse, no panic - Kohli sees big picture in Australia loss

No excuse, no panic - Kohli sees big picture in Australia loss

With Australia's defense of its World Cup title just two months away, the series win couldn't have come at a better time.

Despite missing banned batsmen Steve Smith and David Warner, Australia bounced back from a 0-2 deficit to clinch the series with a comfortable 35-run win in the final ODI in New Delhi on Wednesday.

"We used that as a bit of motivation", Langer said. "And when you capitalize on probably every important moment that comes in the game as a side, it gets very hard to go past that side".

"It's unbelievable, the resilience and fight that we showed", Finch said. In between, they won six bilateral ODI series at home.

"Because we know the things that we were wanting to do in these last three games, purely because now it's only the World Cup after this".

Usman Khawaja struck his second century in three matches - and a third-straight score of 90 plus - as the visitors first put 272-9 on the board, before an Adam Zampa-led attack skittled India for 237 in reply, the legspinner claiming 3-46 from his 10 overs.

Skipper Virat Kohli seemed happy with the outcome of the Indian team management's experimentation in the series and is looking forward to the World Cup 2019.

After drafting Hill in 2016, the Chiefs defended their decision to select a player with a domestic violence charge on his record . A source close to the situation told The Star that Hill's son sustained a broken arm as a result of the incident.

He said it was the same in the three-match tie in January, despite India winning the final two matches and the series, best suggesting Australia has great confidence heading to the World Cup. But, in their last global assignment prior to the quadrennial event, India not only managed to expose the chinks in their own armour but more importantly allow Australia to tell the world, "Don't count us out yet".

Khawaja, who was named man of the series, said it was a sweet revenge after the home ODIs defeat to India early this year.

"Incredibly proud of the boys.it's been an incredible arm-wrestle from the moment India arrived in Australia".

Shankar has come a long way since his disastrous debut in the Nidahas T20 tri-series and could be a solid all-round option going forward for India if he continues to develop.

- This was the fifth instance of a team winning an ODI series after being 0-2 down.

"We always knew that the plans and the style that we wanted to play are all there, can win us the World Cup, win us big series against great teams and India are definitely a great team". Australia will now play Pakistan in Dubai, whereas the Indian players will join their franchises ahead of the upcoming IPL season.

Australia now head to the UAE to play Pakistan in a five-match series starting March 22 before the 50-over World Cup begins in late May in England and Wales.
