Huawei Mate 20 Pro Wins Best Smartphone at 2019 Mobile World Congress

Huawei once again uses DSLR photos to promote a smartphone camera

The images are not clicked by the Huawei P30 handset.

From what is known, there is going to be a generous memory upgrade for the Huawei flagship with the P30 sporting 6 GB and 8 GB of RAM.

According to an article on Huawei's site, Clement Wong, VP of global marketing said that Huawei P30 Pro will offer "revolutionary technology to rewrite rules of photography" and periscope-style "superzoom" camera. GadgetMatch did a reverse image search which revealed that a photograph featuring a young child with duckling is too similar for comfort to a photo originally from a photographer's 2009 portfolio.

As of now, we only know that the pictures were taken using a Huawei P30 Series smartphone but not the exact model. The watch had been globally launched alongside the Huawei Mate 20 Pro previous year but is official in India now. And while the non-pro variant gets a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom, the same has been expunged from the P30 Pro for a SIM and nanoSD card tray, though the USB Type-C port and a microphone remain visible. The larger panel of the P30 Pro appears to curve around the long edges o the device, with the phone lacking a physical home button and conventional fingerprint reader. The third lens differs from the other two lenses, the square-shaped lens indicates that Huawei wants to use the same periscopic camera system as with the P30. The company has a history of claiming its mobile products are comparable to DSLRs and while that's hardly the case from any reasonable perspective, there's no doubt they're becoming more impressive by the quarter.

Update, March 13, 2019 (12:15AM): Huawei has issued a statement after it emerged that it was using stock photos in its P30 promotional material.

The Geekbench listing of the P30 reveals some important details related to the smartphone. The sensors will be aligned vertically accompanied by a dual-LED flash module.

Huawei has been keen on putting up a show just by the looks of their devices and the different gradient colours they come with. In August, the leading tech company was also caught faking smartphone selfies.
