Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who has been a cornerstone of the team since 2012, was traded to the Tennessee Titans Friday.

Full terms: The #Dolphins are receiving a 4th round pick in 2020 and the 2019 7th round pick, while the #Titans are getting a 6th in 2019 and Ryan Tannehill.

Miami landed a fourth-round pick in 2020 and a seventh-round pick in 2019 in exchange for a sixth-round pick and Tannehill, according to National Football League insider Ian Rapoport.

Man Utd, Barcelona, Arsenal & more learn quarter-final & semi-final fate
The arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rejuvenated the Red Devils, after Jose Mourinho's controversial spell in Manchester. The biggest result was Ajax seeing off defending champions Real Madrid in incredible fashion at the Santiago Bernabeu.

But Tannehill never lived up to expectations in Miami. And his departure doesn't come as a big surprise when considering reports surfaced that the team was expected to go a different direction at the quarterback position under head coach Brian Flores. According to a release from Tannehill's agency, the former Dolphins starter signed a one-year deal with the Titans. His career completion percentage is 62.8 percent, and his career passer rating is 87.0.

His contract was to balloon to $18.7 million in base salary this year, and he would have counted $26.6 million against the salary cap. Paying big-time money for a backup quarterback has proven to be a viable approach (see: the Eagles and Nick Foles) and it makes all the sense in the world for the Titans, a team with Marcus Mariota now positioned as its starter.
