Teddy Bridgewater reportedly staying with Saints

Tedd Bridgewater Drew Brees

Bridgewater now will sign a one-year, $7.25 million fully guaranteed contract with the Saints, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

It's part of the reason why the signal caller met with the Miami Dolphins when it had previously been assumed he would return to the Saints.

Bridgewater was chosen by the Vikings in the 1st round of the 2014 draft and made the Pro Bowl in 2015.

That may not have been the case had Bridgewater signed in Miami. At the very least, you'd expect there to be a quarterback competition between Bridgewater and Ryan Tannehill, that is if the Dolphins don't cut Tannehill. Tannehill is expected to be traded or released at some point.

Bridgewater also seemed to acknowledge the odd symmetry his return has with Brees' arrival in New Orleans. He finished a free-agency visit with the Dolphins on Wednesday and left without a deal. On Tuesday, Bridgewater reportedly was ready to turn down more money from the Dolphins to return to New Orleans and serve as the heir apparent to 40-year-old Drew Brees.

Taylor is expected to sign with the Los Angeles Chargers to be Phillip Rivers' backup, according to the NFL Network.

And Bridgewater is apparently willing to wait to find the ideal long-term fit, even though he has started just one game over the past three seasons.
