Netanyahu confirms Israel behind artillery attack in Syria
The United States and Poland kicked off an global conference on the Middle East on Wednesday.
It referred to a meeting between Netanyahu and Oman's foreign affairs minister Yusuf bin Alawi.
Several weeks ago, Iranian Air Force Commander Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh made a related comment, saying that "current and future generations [of air force pilots] are impatient and ready to fight against Israel and eliminate it from the Earth".
According to Netanyahu, the focus of Wednesday's Mideast conference in Warsaw will be Iran, an issue he says "unites Israel, the United States, many countries in the world".
The controversy comes amid speculation about the goal of the meeting in Poland of top officials from 65 different countries-which also featured President Donald Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani calling for regime change in Iran while speaking at a rally outside the summit on behalf of, as Robert Mackey of The Intercept put it, "a cult-like group of Iranian exiles who pay him to represent them".
Netanyahu - who has been trying to play up his diplomatic gains ahead of Israel's April election - has frequently hinted at warmer ties with Gulf Arab states.

Leading European countries Germany and France opted not to send their foreign ministers over concerns the meeting could highlight big-power tensions over Washington's decision a year ago to withdraw from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and re-impose sanctions against Tehran.
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, among other Western European foreign ministers, has pulled out of the event.
The one top European official that did show up - at least for the opening session - was UK Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt, who on Wednesday expressed a desire to see peace in Yemen.
The meeting prompted Russian President Vladimir Putin to call his own summit with representatives from Iran and Turkey, which is set to take place in Sochi on Thursday.
