Huawei says it could take 5 years to resolve hardware issues
A British government oversight panel that monitors Huawei's activities in the United Kingdom warned a year ago that it can provide only "limited assurance" that its telecoms equipment poses no threat to national security.
The Chinese firm, which has earmarked $2bn (£1.5bn) for the process, outlined the timetable in a letter to MPs.
Huawei has repeatedly denied that its telecommunication technology poses a threat to the United States security.
"We work closely with a large number of bodies - government and security", he added.
In a letter to Norman Lamb, chairman of the committee, Ryan Ding, president of Huawei's carrier business, said: "Enhancing our software engineering capabilities is like replacing components on a high-speed train in motion".
Brussels has not taken steps to ban Huawei but operators like the UK's BT Group and France's Orange have said they will not use its 5G equipment in their core national networks. Australia and New Zealand have joined the USA in banning the use of Huawei products in their 5G mobile networks. In an interview last month, Andrus Ansip, European Commission vice president for digital affairs, said China's National Intelligence Law, passed in 2017, has increased the risk in dealing with Chinese companies in Europe.

There are indeed different companies that make 5G and microwave, but only Huawei can produce the best 5G and microwave at the same time. "Were Huawei ever to engage in malicious behaviour, it would not go unnoticed - and it would certainly destroy our business".
British authorities have not found any evidence of spying using Huawei equipment.
