If your tablet is bent more than normal - feel free to ask in the Apple. "After the plastic cools, the entire enclosure is finished with a precision CNC machining operation, yielding a seamless integration of plastic and aluminum into a single, strong enclosure", it says.

In a newly released support note Apple explains how the iPad Pro is made, using a process called "co-molding" where plastic is injected into gaps between the aluminium components.

Here, Cupertino also reiterated that it "allows for no more than 400 microns of deviation across the length of any side".

According to the page, the new iPad design and antenna lines may make "subtle deviations in flatness" more perceptible to the naked eye. "These small variances do not affect the strength of the enclosure or the function of the product and will not change over time through normal use", Apple writes on the support page. Any customers who have purchased an iPad Pro that they believe deviates from what Apple considers normal are invited to return their device to Appel within the 14-day return period.

Whether you're a power-user looking for an iPad Pro or a means to save a few bucks on the current-gen iPad, here are the best iPad deals you can buy right now.

See their blog post in full here. The company completely ignores evidence to the contrary, however, such as the video by JerryRigEverything that showed a 2018 iPad Pro bending like a paperback book with minimal pressure. It seems it's the process of combining plastic with antenna "splits" for the cellular model using a new co-molding technique that may result in slight bends.

Apple's iPad exploded into the consumer tech market in April of 2010, months ahead of the first Android-powered tablet, and since then the company has sold some 400 million units.

The new support page focused mainly on the Wi-Fi plus Cellular iPad Pro, which is the model reportedly affected the most by the alleged bending issues.

Whether you get it as a gift or gifted it to yourself, there's a little bit of extra prep work to do if you've just gotten your hands on a new 2018 iPad Pro.

In other words, the latest iPad Pros are actually held to a stricter standard for flatness than previous iPads, but even the smallest variations may now be more visible than on previous models due to the new straight edges of the device.

Of course, it's possible some of the devices that are exhibiting bends in excess of Apple's tolerances are mistreating their devices.
