Harden has moved into hallowed ground with his current scoring barrage, as his 14 straight games of 30-plus points ties Hall of Famer (and fellow Rockets legend) Tracy McGrady for the second-longest streak since the ABA/NBA merger. He called the nationally televised win over Harden's Rockets "just another game", acknowledging it was fun playing in that kind of spotlight but emphasizing that the Bucks winning was important, not his individual statistics.

Harden's brilliance in the fourth quarter allowed the Rockets to slash a 15-point deficit to three with 2:37 remaining, when he hit a tough floater.

Harden finished with 41 points, 11 rebounds and six assists while falling short of a dubious triple double with nine turnovers. But Harden missed his final four shots, including a pair of potential tying 3-pointers on the possession following his floater. Gerald Green chipped in 16 points off the bench. Much of the third-quarter comeback was spearheaded by Malcolm Brogdon and Eric Bledsoe, and even on a cold night from Khris Middleton, it's clear Milwaukee is far from a one man show. Harden should have ample opportunity to go nuclear in the week to come, strengthening his case for the No. 1 spot. "I think the ball somehow came back into his hands. wish I would have seen it".
