Weah joins Celtic on loan from PSG

Blades boss Chris Wilder

Scottish champions Celtic reinforced their striking options on Monday with the signing of United States of America worldwide Timothy Weah on loan from Paris Saint-Germain for the rest of the season.

"Timothy's a young talent who is full global player".

The 18-year-old will join up with his new team-mates at their warm weather training camp in Dubai, and could make his debut in their Scottish Cup tie with Airdrieonians on January 19.

"He's hungry too. He's been in the PSG squad and featured for them in preseason".

"I'm really looking forward to seeing all the fans at the home game at Celtic Park".

Weah said he "received "a lot of offers" to go on loan this winter, but Celtic was the one that stood out for him".

"He and rest of the coaching staff are going to build me and form me into a really good player, and my teammates are going to help me mature". I'm so excited to be here.

With Celtic are now short of striking options with former PSG youngster Edouard their only available option - after Leigh Griffiths was given an extended period of leave to deal with off-field personal issues - Weah could be in line to make his first team appearance against Airdrie in the Scottish Cup later this month.

Celtic are delighted to announce the signing of Vakoun Issouf Bayo, who has joined the club on a four-year deal from Slovakian side, Dunajská Streda.

Celtic have already brought in West Brom forward Oliver Burke and Paris Saint-Germain forward Timothy Weah on loan until the end of the season.
