Suspected Ebola patient treated in isolation at Swedish hospital

An ebola case has been found in Europe

The patient, who is in isolation, was admitted to a hospital in Enköping - about 50 miles (80 kilometers) from Stockholm - before being transferred to Uppsala about 7 a.m. local time.

Uppsala chief medical officer confirmed the patient was vomiting blood, a symptom of the fatal disease.

The infectious disease is not believed to be active in this area.

Cases of Ebola are very rare in Europe, with one case reported in Italy in 2015, one in Spain in 2014 and one in the United Kingdom the same year, according to the WHO.

Ebola is one of the world's most risky diseases and killed over 11,000 people during an epidemic in Africa that started in 2014., while an outbreak is still active in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Other patients in need of emergency care are meanwhile advised to go to Uppsala University Hospital or Västmanland Hospital in Västerås.
