O2 data not working as company has network issues

A statement on the O2 website said: "Our technical teams are investigating reports of issues when using data".

Other mobile networks, including Sky, Tesco and Giffgaff have also been affected by the problem because their networks use O2 services.

The company has confirmed that voice calls are still working, and have asked customer to alert them to any network issues they may be experiencing.

One of our 3rd party suppliers has identified a software issue in their system.

The Financial Times said the O2 outage was related to an issue with software provided by Ericsson.

We are aware our customers are unable to use data this morning.

O2 have assured customers that they are working as hard as possible to get the networks up and running as soon as possible. Work is now ongoing to fix the fault and customers are being encouraged to use wi-fi where possible.

In total, around 32 million customers are affected.

The problems are UK-wide and O2's Twitter account spent the morning engaging with customers who were having issues with data.

The company, the second-largest mobile network in the United Kingdom, said it was investigating the technical fault.

A TfL spokesperson told The Register: "We're sorry that customers are unable to use our Countdown screens at bus stops for live travel information".

Some users have also reported problems with making voice calls, despite claims from O2 that voice services are unaffected.
