Newcastle owner Mike Ashley hopes to have club sold by January

Newcastle takeover: Mike Ashley CONFIRMS sale plans BEFORE transfer window

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley says he is "hopeful" the club will be sold to "an owner that will please everybody".

Ashley, who is asking for more than £300m to sell up, confirmed after appearing in front of MPs at a parliamentary select committee looking into his retail business that he is in talks and would like to get the deal done before the January transfer window opens.

"I'd like it to be before the January transfer window", he said.

The following month it was hoped a deal could be agreed with businesswoman Amanda Staveley's PCP Capital Partners group.

Before Newcastle's 2-0 home defeat to West Ham on Saturday, they had won their last three games - and Ashley cited the good form could help with the sale of the club.

But earlier today, American outlet AJC revealed the billionaire was NOT the man ready to end Ashley's 11-year reign as owner of Newcastle.

AgustaWestland middleman Christian Michel extradited
Renzo Lunardi, the then Commercial Manager of AgustaWestland, proposed his appointment and it was cleared by Mr. In a prosecution complaint filed a year ago , the ED had alleged that Michel had paid several people in cash.

The 53-year-old Londoner has proved a divisive figure during his tenure, which has seen Newcastle twice relegated from the Premier League and then immediately promoted back.

Asked on Monday if it was realistic for Newcastle to be sold before the transfer window opened on January 1, Ashley said "possible" was a more accurate word but he was hopeful of stepping aside to find an owner "that will please everybody".

"[Is that] Realistic? It's possible".

Newcastle had a hard start to the season under Rafa Benitez but three wins in a row moved them up the table before a 3-0 home defeat by West Ham United at the weekend.

The businessman's update on the sale process are likely to be welcomed by many fans, though there may also be raised eyebrows over his talk of recent good form.

'And whoever buys the club would presumably have to put in transfer funds for Rafa Benitez?'
