Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja’s brother arrested over alleged planned terrorist attack

It has now come to light that Arsalan curated that list in order to settle a score with Nizamdeen over a woman.

He was arrested around 8.30 a.m., when he was pulled over while driving through Parramatta and taken to the nearest police precinct.

Arsalan Khawaja is expected to be formally charged with forgery and attempting to pervert justice later Tuesday.

Mohamed Kamer Nilar Nizamdeen, who owned the notebook, has been fully cleared after initially being wrongly arrested and charged in August with knowingly making a document connected to terrorism.

Assistant Commissioner Mick Willing said police had paid for Nizamdeen's court costs and "felt very sorry for him".

Arsalan Khawaja, the brother of Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja, was charged for an attempt to pervert justice and forgery after he allegedly used false documents that contained plots to assassinate senior politicians to "set up" his colleague over a personal enmity, The Guardian has reported.

However Nizamdeen, 25, was released without charge in October, after it was demonstrated that the handwriting in the notebook did not belong to him.

"I just ask you to please respect my privacy, and my family's privacy during this time".

Facebook's secret documents seized by Parliament are published by MPs
The documents were part of a California lawsuit filed by app developer Six4Three. Facebook had objected to their release.

He says they've always been determined to get to the bottom of the matter and "today's arrest is the culmination of that".

The police had accused him of planning the high-profile attack in a list which included the former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Mr Nizamdeen was arrested in August, before being held in custody for four weeks, including in solitary confinement at Goulburn Supermax prison, after the initial discovery of the notebook on the UNSW eastern suburbs campus.

There was no evidence to suggest any "ongoing threat to the community", he said. "Out of respect for the process it would be inappropriate for me to make any further comment", he said.

As Australia coach Justin Langer weighs up where to bat him for the first Test against India starting Thursday, Khawaja is fit as a fiddle after dropping 10 kilograms in the past eight months.

He appeared before Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday afternoon.

An investigation by the Joint Counter Terrorism Team concluded that Khawaja allegedly produced the fake "extremist and threatening" material in a bid to frame Mr Nizamdeen.
