Justin Trudeau Refuses to Say 'USMCA' at Signing Ceremony

"Just signed one of the most important, and largest, Trade Deals in US and World History", said the US President.

"We have worked hard on this agreement", Trump said.

After the sides signed the agreement, it would require approval from the countries' respective legislatures.

Administration officials have said publicly that the tariffs would be lifted when a new deal was reached to replace NAFTA.

And the Canadian prime minister hit Trump on one of the most strained features of the countries' relationship: Trump's tariffs.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland speaks to media on the roof of the Panamericano Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on November 29, 2018.

Trudeau also brought up the recent announcement by General Motors that the company will be closing several factories in both the US and Canada, calling it a "heavy blow".

Throughout the entire negotiation process, Freeland says Canada's objectives always remained clear: "defend Canadians' interests, fight for Canadian jobs and living standards, and uphold Canadian values within an agreement that is mutually beneficial for all three countries".

Floyd Mayweather, DJ. Khaled Charged By The SEC Over ICO Pay
On Thursday, the SEC revealed-to no one's surprise-that Centra had paid Mayweather $100,000 to promote Centra on social media. Another Mayweather post promoting a different cryptocurrency said "You can call me Floyd Crypto Mayweather from now on".

He struck a more optimistic note on Friday, saying, "It's been so well-reviewed, I don't expect to have very much of a problem".

Shortly after the signing, Mr Trump tweeted: "The bad NAFTA will soon be gone". He threatened to tear it up and withdraw the United States completely at times during the negotiation, which would have left trade between the three neighbours in disarray.

Mexico has also agreed to labor reforms, while Canada agreed to increase market access for US "dairy products, eggs, and poultry".

Meanwhile, Mr Trump's other major trade-related meeting during the G20 summit will be with China's leader Xi Jinping on Saturday, with analysts looking for any sign that the USA president will hold off on plans to toughen USA tariffs on Chinese imports in January.

Canada, the U.S. and Mexico will now move forward with their respective domestic procedures toward the ratification and implementation of the new trade agreement.

- President Trump opened two days of diplomacy at the Group of 20 summit in Argentina on Friday after his abrupt decision to cancel a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin overshadowed the proceedings before they even started. The Canadian Conservatives have accused Trudeau of making too many concessions to Trump, who had threatened to "ruin" the Canadian economy unless he got his way.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was less effusive about the renegotiated pact, but said the USMCA would resolve the threat of "serious economic uncertainty" that "would have gotten more damaging".

However, after a deal was agreed in principle on 30 September, Mexican President Pena Nieto hailed it as a "win-win-win". Canada has said it will lift its tariffs once the USA lifts its own.
