Chrome 71 is Going Further to Block More Bad Ad Experiences

Chrome 71 will block all ads on sites with persistent malicious ad abuse

Of course, it's more likely Chrome 71 will block nasty adverts served from outside Google's network, so the Chocolate Factory won't really lose any cash, anyway - though, those running the scummy ads will see a fall in clicks. Google is taking a big step against websites that redirect users using pop-up ads.

With the update, expected to roll out in December with Chrome 71, Chrome will ramp up enforcement.

Due to this, Google has announced that starting with Chrome 71, which is slated to be released on December 4th, 2018, the browser will begin to block all advertisements on web sites that repeatedly perform abusive behaviors. Webmasters can go into the Abusive Experiences Report, located in the Google Search Report, and select their website to check what Google thinks of the ads on their website.

Phishing Ads or page elements that attempt to steal personal information or trick your users into sharing personal information. He explains that Chrome had already implemented countermeasures for "abusive experiences": auto-redirects, fake cursors, phony error messages such as "Your computer is INFECTED!" and so forth. And while users will have the option to disable this ad-filter setting, it's no double likely that most users won't bother, meaning the sites that engage in these practices very much have an incentive to fix things fast.

White House suspends credentials for CNN's Jim Acosta
The CNN reporter's credentials were pulled Wednesday after his testy news-conference exchange with U.S. Acosta steadfastly refuted Sanders' accusation, which she made via Tweetstorm, calling it "a lie".

"Following its own internal investigations into abusive web practices, Google claims to have identified the tactics that are being used".

"This approach did not go far enough", Sekhar wrote in a blog post today (Nov. 5). Google is banishing every ad considering the nature of a given site, but not just the single offending ads.

What do you think about this protection from Chrome? This week, the company said that roughly half of these unwanted experiences include these abusive ads, justifying the crackdown. Website behavior is also abusive when the user signifies no behavior and yet an ad opens. But it's likely a prudent idea to check your site in the Abusive Experiences Tool to check if anything is flagged by Google as abusive.
