NBC Removing Trump Ad Amid Criticism For Running During Primetime

In a statement about its own refusal to play the ad, CNN's communications team tweeted that "CNN has made it abundantly clear in its editorial coverage that this ad is racist".

NBC, Fox News and Facebook have pulled a television advertisement on immigration, endorsed by US President Donald Trump, which critics said was racist. It aired once on NBC's "Sunday Night Football" and three times on MSNBC, according to Comcast Corp.'s NBCUniversal.

The ad was part of Team Trump's campaign to demonize immigrants as the pivotal midterms approach to fire up the president's "America First", nativist base.

NBC's decision to run the ad during the highly anticipated game between the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers was criticised on Twitter.

"After further review we recognize the insensitive nature of the ad and have chose to cease airing it across our properties as soon as possible", NBC Universal said in a statement.

FOX News has also chose to no longer air the advertisement.

One dead after two light planes collide mid-air over Ottawa
Ottawa Paramedics superintendent Tom Capyk said first responders arrived to find a plane in flames and one passenger still inside. In mid-October, an ultra-light plane crashed on a road, narrowly missing a house and leaving the pilot seriously injured.

Will & Grace star Debra Messing criticized NBC for airing the ad, sharing in a tweet to fans that she is "ashamed that my network aired this disgusting racist ad".

"Dangerous illegal criminals like cop killer Luis Bracamontes don't care about our laws", the ad said, even though there is no known connection between Bracamontes and the migrant caravan.

The ad compares his behavior to members of the caravan, which mostly comprises adults and children who plan to legally seek asylum at ports of entry into the U.S. The video then urges viewers to "vote Republican" before a voiceover from Trump says he approves the message.

"So, @NBCNews @CNN @facebook have chosen to stand with those ILLEGALLY IN THIS COUNTRY". He said the media was trying to control what you see and think. Who made that decision?

Facebook has also blocked the ad from being eligible for paid promotion, saying that it violated the social network's policy regarding "sensational content".

Facebook, too, announced Monday that the ad could not be a paid ad on the site, though users can still post it themselves.
