Travellers will be questioned by AI lie detectors at the European Union border

People crossing the four borders will have to fill out and sign some forms, upload documents such as their passport, visa and proof of funds, and then will be asked some questions by the virtual border guard.

The EU is increasing security on its borders by developing an "intelligent control system" that will reportedly make checking the identities of travelers faster and more efficient.

"We're employing existing and proven technologies - as well as novel ones - to empower border agents to increase the accuracy and efficiency of border checks", project coordinator George Boultadakis of European Dynamics in Luxembourg stated on the European Commission's website. Border guards will be equipped with handheld digital devices that will allow them to cross-check travelers identity and compare facial images taken during the pre-screening to passport photos as well as their present appearance.

For those who pass the test, they'll receive a QR code that will let them pass through.

Trials of the system will go ahead in Hungary, Greece, and Latvia.

Diablo III-Themed Loot Goblin amiibo Revealed
The partnership with NetEase is another indication that Diablo Immortal may not have been targeted at NA/EU. Blizzard has officially unveiled the Loot Goblin amiibo via the official Diablo Twitter account.

"Non-verbal signals, such as micro-expressions, really do not say anything about whether someone is lying or not". After that, the person will face a human guard for a more detailed check. If there's additional concern, their biometric data will be taken, and be handed off to a human agent who will assess the case.

Earlier this week, researchers from the Cardiff University and the Charles III University of Madrid revealed VeriPol, an artificial intelligence system which is now being used across Spain by law enforcement to detect fake reports of criminal activity.

Boultadakis said that the technology is a effect of "increasing terror attacks taking place on European Union soil, and the migration crisis". And there's a good reason for this: the technology is very much experimental. iBorderCtrl was just 76 percent accurate in early testing, and the team only expects to improve that to 85 percent.

But with more than 700 million people traveling through the European Union every year, that could still result in a "troubling number of misidentified liars", Gizmodo noted.
