Seeking to frame election, Trump calls Democrats 'too extreme'

US President Donald Trump

"The Blue Wave is rapidly being shattered", Trump said.

Trump was stumping for Nevada Republican Sen.

President Donald Trump, seeking to frame the choices for voters in the midterm elections, said Friday that Democrats are "too extreme and too dangerous" to take control of Congress.

Former US Vice President Joe Biden spoke during a rally at the Culinary Workers Union Hall Local 226 in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters after a campaign rally in Elko, Nevada, Trump said Republicans Rep. Kevin Brady of Texas and House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin are working on developing a "major tax cut for middle income people" in the coming weeks.

Biden had traveled to Nevada to stump for Democrats in the state, including Rep. Jacky Rosen, who's vying for a Senate seat now held by Republican Dean Heller.

The former vice president also predicted that "three and six Republicans in the Senate" will "vote the right way" as well.

Trump also claimed without evidence that Democrats want them to enter the US because "they're gonna vote Democrat".

Wrapping up a three-day visit to Western states with midday rally in rural Elko, Trump lent support for Dean Heller, considered the most vulnerable GOP senator on the November 6 ballot as Republicans hope to retain their Senate majority.

The YouTube clip was shot by a man who reports say is the leader of the Miami chapter of the Proud Boys, according to the right-wing blog Big League Politics.

Biden, who has said he won't decide until at least next year whether he'll seek the presidency in 2020, has been keeping a presence in early voting states like Nevada.

He won Nevada in his 2008 and 2012 campaigns, and Democrat Hillary Clinton carried the state by 2 percentage points over Trump in 2016.

He said Republicans were going to win big in the 2018 midterm elections. Republicans now hold a 51-49 advantage.

The president wants to focus on immigration as one of the defining election issues.

But Heller once had rocky relations with Trump and had returned a campaign donation from then-candidate Trump over Trump's immigration rhetoric.

In December, Trump signed into law the largest tax overhaul since the 1980s, which slashed the corporate rate from 35 percent to 21 percent and temporarily reduced the tax burden for most individuals as well.

In Michigan, Democrat Gretchen Whitmer has a solid lead over Republican state Attorney General Bill Schuette to replace outgoing two-term Gov. Rick Snyder.

Heller and Rosen held their first and only debate of the campaign on Friday.

Trump said Heller's challenger Rosen was indebted to the Democratic establishment and opposed the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
