The Me Too movement in India has causing intense tremors in the Indian film industry as superstars are taking a strong stand behind the women victims and taking strict action against the offenders.

Some women said they were inspired by the testimony of Christine Blasey Ford, the university researcher in the United States, who accused, without evidence, USA supreme court judge nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her when they were teenagers.

She said that she believes in all the women who have come out with complaints of sexual harassment.

Providing details on the proposed committee, Maneka Gandhi, in an interview to Doordarshan News, said that "for many years" there was a burden on women, that even if they were "humiliated" verbally or by touch, "the woman never used to speak up, even if she was 80 years old". "And I told you mine so that more people can believe you and stop making women look like attention seekers".

Three women, an actor, an assistant director and a journalist took to Twitter on Thursday to accuse Khan of sexual harassment.

Kumar's statement came two days after Bollywood power couple Aamir Khan and his film-maker wife Kiran Rao announced that they were withdrawing from the film Mogul over a molestation case against director Subhash Kapoor, who denies the charges. She has also written to Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad to ask for a change in the law to do away with the statute of limitations in child sex abuse cases so that adults who have been subjected to sexual abuse can report their cases as adults. "I takes so much of courage to go against your loved ones and family members in public discourse. salute for that. but make sure a fair investigation take place to the caste & justice and truth may prevail".
