5 million pounds of beef recalled for possible salmonella

Food and Health, Millions of pounds of ground beef recalled

A salmonella outbreak in June linked to watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe and fresh-cut fruit products from Caito Foods in IL sickened 60 people in five states and prompted a recall. The Salmonella lawyers of Marler Clark have represented thousands of victims of Salmonella and other foodborne illness outbreaks and have recovered over $650 million for clients. The affected products include Cedar River Farms Natural Beef, Comnor Perfect Choice, Grass Run Farms Natural Beef, Showcase, Showcase/Walmart, Gourmet Burger, and JBS Generic.

In this announcement, they recalled that those meat products might have some contamination of salmonella.

Investigators say at least 57 people in 16 states have reported getting sick. The products were packaged from July 26 to September 7. The FSIS is still concerned that many people have the contaminated beef frozen in their freezers and is encouraging consumers to check their USDA inspection mark and throw out or return any questionable meat products they come across. These items were shipped to retail locations and institutions nationwide.

The Arizona company JBS Tolleson, Inc. has recalled approximately 6.5 million pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with Salmonella Newport, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced in a news release.

Consumers who have ground beef in their homes labeled with the establishment number "EST".

If a recall is not handled well, consumers may not forget it for a long time.
