Study 1 in 3 US adults eat fast food each day

That includes 37.9 percent of men and 35.4 percent of women, according to a report published Wednesday by the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics. "Consumers can find nutritional information on calories on the menu in most fast food establishments and restaurants". Asian adults ate the least amount of fast food every day at 30.6 percent. At lunchtime, 43.7 percent of Americans pick up a quick meal, and 42 percent do the same for dinner.

The percentage of adults who said they consumed fast food rose with family income level, according to the report.

When asked to recall what they had eaten in the past 24 hours, about 45 percent of consumers in their 20s and 30s reported having eaten fast food over the past day.

Though it does take two to conceive, and often to parent, women at least make more of an effort to cut out fast food. Slightly more men than women - nearly 38%, versus about 35% - reported eating fast food over the past day.

Fast food has become a major part of the American diet, and a new report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reveals just how many adults eat it.

"These findings remind us that fast food companies have figured out a way to conveniently fit into our daily routine, despite their [products'] negative health implications", Boehmer said.

Among those whose family income was less than or equal to 130 percent of the federal poverty line (which was set at $11,770 for a single person or $24,250 for a family of four in 2016), 31.7 percent ate fast food on a typical day.

Vietnam War vet identified as suspect in deadly SC shooting ambush
Authorities said the gunman had an advantage over law enforcement officers as he could see them approach the home . He posted on his 70th birthday about "shooting competitively since 1984 and lovin' it", the AP also reported .

Contrary to popular belief, the study showed fast food consumption is actually higher among in wealthy families. Often, doctors warn patients from consuming too much fast food for fear of health problems that could arise from eating too much of it to the detriment of healthier alternatives, like fruits and vegetables. It's certainly possible that some people interpreted this to mean something other than burgers, fried chicken and sub sandwiches.

Fast food consumption also varied by sex. Among all adults, a higher percentage of men (37.9%) than women (35.4%) said they ate fast food on a given day.

The survey assesses the health of adults and children in the United States and tracks changes over time, looking at who eats it (age, income, gender) and how they eat it (where and when).

Our taste for fast food seems to diminish with age. In middle age, that figure drops to 37.7 percent.

"Adults can go to the grocery store more and prep food to take on the go so we don't have to get in a situation where we need to rely on fast food so much", she said.

The new report included data on about 10,000 people 20 and older from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2013-2016.
