Space expedition returns from the ISS to Earth (event completed)
The Russian daily Kommersant reported that an investigation at home was probing the possibility that U.S. astronauts deliberately drilled the hole in order to get a sick colleague sent back home-something Russian officials later denied.
NASA astronauts Drew Feustel and Ricky Arnold, along with Russian cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev, touched down in the steppes of Kazakhstan at 5:44 p.m. local time (4:44 a.m. PT) today, 61 years after Russians sent their Sputnik satellite into space to kick off the U.S.
However, NASA added, "This conclusion does not necessarily mean the hole was created intentionally or with mal-intent", as some media outlets interpreted Rogozin's remarks as suggesting.
A NASA astronaut and a Russian cosmonaut are due to launch next week to join three astronauts who remain in the orbit.
It's because earlier this week the head of Russia's space agency ruled out that it was the result of a manufacturing defect. The next expedition - Russia's Alexei Ovchinin and the United States' Nick Hague will leave Baikonur on board the Soyuz MS-10 for the ISS on October 11.

NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine will attend next week's Soyuz launch and plans to meet with Rogozin to discuss the highly sensitive matter.
Members of the worldwide crew of a manned transportation spacecraft Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev, NASA astronauts Andrew Feustel and Richard Arnold have become the members of the 56 expedition.
"I have had my "glory days in the hot sun" and now it's time to come home", he wrote in a tweet late on Wednesday that included a photo of the sun taken from the ISS.
Chawla and six fellow crew members died when the space shuttle Columbia was destroyed during re-entry into the atmosphere on February 1, 2003.
