From 2020, Volkswagen will integrate more than 5 million Volkswagen-branded vehicles per year to an internet of things network. A Microsoft store is pictured in New York City, New York, U.S., August 21, 2018.

Infection typically occurs when people go swimming or diving in warm freshwater places, like lakes and rivers.

Doctors first thought he was suffering from meningitis, but tests revealed he had Naegleria fowleri the day before his death, when it was too late to treat the infection. Once the amoeba enters the nose, it travels to the brain where it causes PAM (which destroys brain tissue) and is usually fatal.

Naegleria fowleri infections are rare.

A spokesperson for the CDC said preliminary testing results from the facility are expected to be returned this week.

No other sites tested showed contamination, according to the water system. The organizations statistics indicate that since 1962 there have been 143 confirmed cases, of which only four people survived.
