Vikings 'concerned' about Griffen after reported involvement in hotel incident

Everson Griffen

Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen is now being evaluated at a Minnesota hospital after concerns were raised over his mental health this past weekend, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. We'll see what comes of the situation and how it affects his availability for IDP lineups.

No police report was filed, and Minneapolis police told ESPN that the situation did not warrant a further investigation. According to multiple reports, the ninth-year player threatened violence in the hotel lobby after not being allowed into his room.

Police were called and Griffen was not arrested. "We are now focused on Everson's well-being and providing the appropriate support for him and his family", Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said in a statement.

Coach Mike Zimmer told reporters after the game that Griffen had been dealing with a personal matter, even though he was listed out with a knee injury.

Oil prices surge as US rules out using emergency reserves
The kingdom effectively acts as the oil market's central banker, its thinking and action on supply closely watched by traders. The SPR now holds about 660 million barrels of mostly sour grade crude in underground caverns in Texas and Louisiana.

Minneapolis Police Department spokesman John Elder said the man left on his own accord and the caller was no longer cooperative.

The Vikings themselves have since released a statement indicating that they're concerned about the incident in question and anxious about what is being considered a serious personal health-related issue. On behalf of all the Vikings faithful we certainly echo Spielman's statement and wish the best for Griffen. He's coming off three straight Pro Bowl seasons. In 123 games, including 65 starts, he has 62 sacks, one interception and 10 forced fumbles. He recorded 21 tackles and had 13 sacks last season.

The 30-year-old Griffen is married with three sons, the youngest of whom was born about a month early on Thanksgiving Day last year shortly before the Vikings played at Detroit.
