Bob Woodward's book Fear: Trump in the White House released on Kindle

Woodward's book features current and former aides calling the president an'idiot and a'liar and depicting him as prone to rash policy decisions that aides worked furiously to derail or stall. He

Bob Woodward's book detailing the chaotic atmosphere in Trump's White House is officially a hit.

While the book's stats are impressive, they also speak to the "weird economy" of publishing, Charles said.

"If that individual is in meetings where national security is being discussed, or other important topics, and they are attempting to undermine the executive branch, that would certainly be problematic and something that the Department of Justice should look into", Sanders said in her first briefing since the editorial was published last week.

Trump officials have rushed to distance themselves from the op-ed and from Woodward's book, both of which depict a White House mired in dysfunction, with aides disparaging the Republican president and working to prevent him from making disastrous decisions. "Never has a country given so much away for so little in return" as the U.S. had in Afghanistan, Modi had said to Trump, according to The Washington Post.

When Colbert brought up the fact that some people in the Trump administration were portrayed as types of heroes, Woodward replied, "You get to know these people, and you realize they're speaking from conscience, because they are anxious about Trump doing things". Woodward shrugged off Trump calling him a liar on Twitter, saying he feels comfortable the truth will ultimately win.

Woodward's books are written on "deep background", which do not attribute quotes to specific people. Incredibly, Woodward cites Trump's statement on Tillerson's firing while editing out the Iran reference.
