Trump called Nepal 'nipple' during briefing with Modi

New reports of President Donald Trumpā€˜s behavior with other world leaders may be cause for concern

US President Donald Trump has a "bizarre" desire to frequently hold phone conversations with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, often leaving the latter confused about the concrete agenda of the talks, media reported, citing a White House official.

Yes, that is what happened according to a report by Politico, a US-based portal devoted to covering politics and policy.

According to Politico, Trump has had a hard time pronouncing foreign countries' names and with respecting different time zones when he wants to make calls.

"Staffers explained that Modi has always been estranged from his wife", Politico reported before revealing Trump's plans to play Cupid: "'Ah, I think I can set him up with somebody, ' Trump joked [in response]". While studying a map of South Asia to prepare for the meeting, he reportedly called Nepal "nipple" and Bhutan "button".

The Nepal blooper took place during the same meeting in which Donald Trump joked about arranging a date for Prime Minister Modi.

After Politico reported Trump had mispronounced the names of Nepal and Bhutan during a 2017 briefing, Colbert noted how it was "important that the most powerful man in the world knows what countries are in that world".

The imitation was presumably to do with what the prime minister reportedly told Trump during his June 2017 state visit.

Trump, for example, had requested several times that his aides set up a phone call on the spot in the middle of the afternoon to Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The comedian then attempted to educate Trump on the names of other nations, and the possible pitfalls of not saying them correctly.

Adding: "When he wants to call someone, he wants to call someone. He's not stopping to add up" time differences, the official told Politico.

"It does have an effect on how Trump tries to secure personal loyalty and woo people away from what should be their primary and their only loyalty - to the Constitution, to public service and to the people of the United States", he said. 'He was like, "What is this stuff in between and these other countries?"

Multiple Trump aides said they were unaware of the discount available to staff, or learned of it only after paying full price for Trump-branded gear. You don't just call to check in'.

The article also focussed on the "diplomatic faux-pas" committed by Trump during his discussions with foreign leaders over a wide range of issues. He's more impulsive that way.
