Man held after pedestrians injured in Houses of Parliament vehicle crash
A "number of pedestrians" were injured when a vehicle crashed into barriers outside Britain's Houses of Parliament on Tuesday, with armed police swooping in to arrest the driver, Scotland Yard said.
Footage on social media showed heavily armed police response units arriving at the scene, with the area outside the Parliament building in central London cordoned off.
Armed officers could be seen surrounding the auto before leading a man away in handcuffs. Masood then stabbed an unarmed police officer.
Scotland Yard said: "At 07:37hrs today, a vehicle was in collision with barriers outside the Houses of Parliament".
Police say an incident in which a auto was driven into a barrier near the Houses of Parliament appears to be a deliberate act, but the suspect under arrest is not cooperating.
In a tweet, the Metropolitan Police stated that two pedestrians are injured.
"Given that this appears to be a deliberate act, the method, and this being an iconic site, we are treating it as a terrorist incident and the investigation is being led by officers from the Counter Terrorism command".
Two people were injured when a vehicle drove into security barriers outside the British parliament on Tuesday (Aug 14) and the driver was arrested, emergency services said, with counter-terrorism police leading the investigation into the incident.
Barry Williams, a BBC member of staff based at Millbank, said: "I heard lots of screams and turned round".
'I turned around and I saw a silver vehicle driving very fast close to the railings, maybe even on the pavement'.
London's Metropolitan Police say no one is in a life-threatening condition following a vehicle crash outside the Houses of Parliament.
