North Korea slams U.S. for lacking ‘basic decorum’ in nuke talks

North Korea also accused unidentified high-level U.S. officials of "going against the intention of President Trump" by "making baseless allegations against us and making desperate attempts at intensifying the global sanctions and pressure".

North Korea's nuclear weapons program has caused worldwide tension for decades and the rhetoric and threats from Kim and Trump had been especially hostile before their June meeting.

Bolton, in an interview on Fox News, said U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was prepared to return to North Korea for another meeting with Kim.

Trump has hailed North Korea's moves since his historic summit with leader Kim Jong Un during a summit in Singapore in June, where the US agreed to provide unspecified security guarantees in exchange for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Kim vowed in Singapore to work toward denuclearization but the two sides have yet to define a deal to meet that goal and Washington insists sanctions pressure must be maintained during negotiations.

The White House did not respond to requests for comment.

North Korea slams U.S. for lacking ‘basic decorum’ in nuke talks

"They have to understand that the worldwide community still expects them to denuclearize and so we're willing to wait if they want to wait, but we're not willing to wait for too long", said Haley, who has pushed through three United Nations sanctions packages since arriving at the world body 18 months ago.

The Kim Jung Un regime is claims U.S.is making "outrageous arguments" that North Korea has to denuclearize first; Greg Palkot reports.

The foreign ministry said that despite their efforts to work with the USA - by stopping their missile launches and nuclear tests - America continues to insist on "denuclearization first", and continues to encourage worldwide sanctions against the North.

The United States was "attempting to invent a pretext for increased sanctions against the DPRK". Trump's national security adviser, John Bolton, also said this week North Korea has not taken the necessary steps to denuclearise.

But, following the meeting, US intelligence officials said they believed North Korea was "deceiving" the USA, saying the regime was bolstering production for nuclear weapons at "multiple secret sites" in recent months. They said that when a session with Pompeo reached an impasse last month, North Korean officials asked if he would like to step outside to call the president, who declared after the June summit that North Korea was "no longer a nuclear threat". But the U.S. has repeatedly reiterated that North Korea's complete denuclearization comes before such a goal, amid slower-than-expected progress in relevant talks.
