West Nile Virus found in mosquitoes in Perth County traps

For the second time this summer West Nile Virus has made an appearance in Lambton County

The first West Nile virus-related death of the year in Dallas County has been reported, the county health department confirmed to WFAA on Tuesday.

Parts of Hazelwood, Southside Flats, Southside Slopes, Mt. Washington and Beltzhoover will be treated Thursday and Monday between 8 a.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Mosquito bites can transmit the virus. This follows last week's positive test result in Woodstock.

Limit outdoor activities during dawn and dusk, when mosquitoes are most active. The majority of Culex mosquitoes breed in standing water and others are found in freshwater and saltwater marshes, lakes and ponds.

Symptoms of West Nile virus include fever, confusion, muscles weakness and severe headache.

Mosquitos are collected from over 90 test sites across CT to test for viruses including West Nile, Zika and Eastern Equine Encephalitis.
