President Trump praises fallen Secret Service agent as a 'hero'

Trump family travel drains Secret Service

Earlier this week, United States Secret Service Special Agent Nole Edward Remagen suffered a stroke while on duty in Scotland.

The expenditures, totaling $69,767, were made by the State Department on behalf of the U.S. Secret Service, tasked to protect the president and his family members during their trips overseas. He passed away Tuesday surrounded by family and fellow agents, the White House said, and was flown to Maryland on a U.S. Air Force plane Wednesday.

In a statement, President Trump said: "Our hearts are filled with sadness over the loss of a beloved and devoted special agent, husband, and father".

"At the time of his passing, he was among the elite heroes who serve in the Presidential Protection Division of the Secret Service".

Remagen is survived by a wife and two small children, and was the son of a retired Secret Service employee.

The agent, who had 19 years' experience, collapsed while he was working in Scotland during the U.S. President's diplomatic mission to Europe.

The president and his son Eric Trump's visits to the Trump International Hotel in Doonbeg, Ireland, throughout 2017 cost the State Department almost $28,000 at the hotel for Secret Service expenses.

Nine people were reported injured, one seriously. "The passengers jumped out of the bus and screamed", an eyewitness told LN. Hingst said it wasn't clear whether it belonged to the suspect, but said there had been reports of smoke coming out of it.

"I have Turnberry in Scotland, which is a magical place - one of my favorite places", Trump said of the golf course, about 50 miles south of Glasgow.

President Trump left Turnberry on Sunday, flying out of Prestwick Airport to Helsinki, Finland, ahead of talks with Russian president Vladimir Putin on Monday.

The agent's identity and what he was doing at the time was not provided by the Secret Service. "We are forever in their debt".

The Secret Service said the agent was a "dedicated professional of the highest order" and thanked the medical personnel who gave him "exceptional care and support".

Remagen's LinkedIn profile doesn't offer much insight to his life, but highlighted his many years' worth of service to the Secret Service.

The page has already raised more than $99,000 for the family.
