Trump arrives in 'hot spot' Britain, questioning May's Brexit plan

US President Donald Trump arrives at Stansted on Thursday afternoon flanked by First Lady Melania for the first day of his United Kingdom tour.

But it's not simply the protesters, who are expected to dog Mr. Trump throughout his visit, including his weekend in Scotland, but his fraught relationship with political leaders accustomed to harmonious exchanges with USA leaders, a tradition of unity that goes back at least to the vital World War II partnership of Franklin D. Roosevelt and Winston Churchill.

Shrugging off the plans for mass protests, which on Friday will include a giant baby-shaped blimp bearing Trump's features, he said in Brussels: "They like me a lot in the UK".

Mr Trump and First Lady Melania Trump flew into London's Stansted airport on Air Force One, before they travelled by helicopter to the US Ambassador's official residence in central London.

Mr Trump is coming direct from Brussels, where he was one of the main protagonists of the two-day North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit.

Trump added that the U.K.is a "pretty hot spot", given the recent upheaval in the government there.

On Friday, May and Trump will hold talks on Brexit, relations with Russian Federation and trade ties at the prime minister's Chequers country residence followed by a press conference.

But the red carpet treatment is likely to be overshadowed by massive protests planned by Britons opposed to Trump's presence.

Israel says closing Gaza’s main trade terminal in anti-Hamas crackdown
The flaming kites have set fires to forest and farmland, and have done some damage, though inflicted few casualties. Hamas, a Palestinian political movement, slammed Netanyahu's decision by describing it as a crime against humanity.

But protests against Mr Trump have already started, with about a dozen activists from Stand Up to Racism Scotland staging a brief demo outside the Turnberry course on Wednesday.

"This week we have an opportunity to deepen this unique trading relationship and begin discussions about how we will forge a strengthened, ambitious and future-proof trade partnership".

Nick Hurd, Britain's Policing Minister, told parliament police expected more than 100 protests across the country, including two large demonstrations in London on Friday, and there were robust and proportionate plans in place. That prompted almost half a million people to sign a petition calling for Trump to be banned from the UK.

Any yet Britain has entertained some equally controversial world leaders before him.

He will spend just one night in the capital before going to Prime Minister Theresa May's country retreat Chequers in Buckinghamshire.

When he arrives today, Trump will be taken to Blenheim Palace, the 300-year-old birthplace of Churchill.

They are expected to be in Scotland until Sunday.
