Thailand football team won't attend World Cup final

Australian doctor and diver Richard Harris

In an operation that gripped the entire world, all 12 boys and their football coach have been successfully rescued from a cave in Thailand after being trapped for more than two weeks.

Asked whether the remaining four "Wild Boars" team and their coach would come out at the same time in the next rescue effort, he said: "It depends on the plan".

The boys and their coach, all from the "Wild Boars" soccer team, became trapped by rainy season floodwater on June 23rd when they had set out to explore the vast cave complex after soccer practice.

British divers found the 13, hungry and huddled in darkness on a muddy bank in a partly flooded chamber several kilometres inside the complex, on Monday last week.

The four boys rescued Sunday can eat normal food and walk around, and the four pulled out Monday were eating soft food.

"We would like to convey our profound gratitude to all persons involved in the rescue operation, which unfortunately took the life of one of the divers".

The video shows the boys wearing masks and looking in relatively good spirits in the hospital rooms.

Al Jazeera's Step Vaessen spoke with Adisak Wongsukchan, the father of 14-year-old Nong Bew who was among the four boys rescued on Monday.

Experts warned that drinking contaminated water or otherwise being exposed to bird or bat droppings in the cave could lead to unsafe infections.

England V. Croatia, Winner Will Play France
Old Christchurch Road to Horseshoe Common, Westover Road and Gervis Place will be closed and bus routes will also be affected. Nick Colgan, originally from South Yardley in Birmingham, has lived in the country for the past 15 years.

"We did something nobody thought possible", the acting governor of Chiang Rai province, Narongsak Osatanakorn, said once the 18-day ordeal was over.

The mission which started Sunday is a race against the clock with heavy rain expected this week which would again flood the tunnels with fast-flowing, rising water.

"The first day we spent 11 hours, yesterday we spent nine hours, we hope we can do it [today] quicker or at least as quick as yesterday". In addition, Scott's wife grew up with Sgt. Saman Kunan, a Thai rescuer who died July 6 when he ran out of air in the cave system, Variety reports.

Doctors are taking no chances with their physical recovery, quarantining the group, administering tetanus and rabies shots, and putting two of the team on antibiotics after they showed signs of pneumonia.

One of the more hard parts in getting out of the cave system is a bottleneck that is only 38cm by 72cm at its smallest - so narrow that divers have to remove their tanks to fit through the gap.

Two of them possibly have a lung infection but all eight are generally "healthy and smiling", he said.

Today, the four remaining boys were confirmed to have been rescued and were taken to hospital after Reuters reported that those in charge of the rescue mission were "hopeful" all 12 boys plus the coach would be out today.

This now brings the total number of rescued boys to eight. Elon Musk recently pledged his team's help in rescuing the group.

But he added rescuers may need more than 20 hours, to replan and replenish oxygen supplies, to be ready to mount the next mission.
