Loris Karius: Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp defends keeper after mistake in friendly

Liverpool transfer news John Barnes claims Jurgen Klopp must sign a new goalkeeper

A Tranmere player was caught on camera shouting 'you're f****** s***' at Loris Karius after the Liverpool goalkeeper made another blunder in a pre-season friendly.

Karius failed to keep hold of Ollie Norburn's freekick and Jonny Smith was quick to capitalise on the German's error to score Tranmere's first goal of the game.

Klopp said Karius "could" have saved the shot, but that it was "not easy to deal with".

"Nobody likes that goal, but if we talk about the second goal - I think it was Millie's [James Milner's] fault", he told reporters.

"Two brilliant footballers make this mistake, which one was the bigger?"

Karius, 25, was making his second appearance for Liverpool since his high-profile errors against Real Madrid in May's Champions League final, but Klopp defended his goalkeeper after he spilled a free-kick and Rovers scored from the loose ball.

"Loris concedes that goal, but we can not start a story always after each mistake,"he said".

British man injured in Amesbury incident regains consciousness
Mr Basu said it was also "implausible" that the poisoning was not linked with the attack on the Skripals in March. Charlie Rowley is now conscious, but is in a critical but stable condition, Salisbury District Hospital has said.

"We need to make the most of the situation and learn".

"You (the media) can all stop it immediately - promise?"

"Never ask again, we will not talk about it - that would be great".

Until he has a few fantastic games, you can not change that.

His performance has inevitably led to speculation that Liverpool FC could be set to look to bring in goalkeeping reinforcements this summer as they look to challenge for the title next season. We play the games, we have the training sessions, they are nice fellas so it's nice to have them around and then let's see how it fits at the end.

"Everybody has a place [here]".
