Virginia State Police said at least one person was killed after a helicopter crashed into the Bristol Commons Townhomes and sparked a fire in Williamsburg Sunday afternoon.

The aircraft was an R44 helicopter, according to the FAA, which tweeted updates about the crash over the weekend.

The fate of the pilot is not clear, police said, due to concerns about the structural safety of the building. Authorities said they were still trying to locate and identify the pilot of the helicopter after it went down after 4:30 p.m.in the 1100 block of Settlement Drive. The crash caused the building to catch on fire.
