Tony Parker to leave Spurs after 17 years with Spurs

After 17 seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, Tony Parker has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Charlotte Hornets. The person spoke to AP on condition of anonymity Friday because the deal has not been signed.

The Spurs were interested in re-signing Parker. According to Wojnarowski, Parker called Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich to inform him of the decision to accept the Hornets' roster. Parker has been relegated to the sick bay in the past two seasons, seeing his minutes drop, and his appearances reduced to 55 and 63 games respectively.

He won four NBA championships with San Antonio and was named to the NBA All-Star team six times.

He was part of 137 playoff wins with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, the second most by any coach and player in National Basketball Association history. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that Parker "quarterbacked" a player's only meeting to implore Leonard to return to their lineup in March 2018. In addition, Parker's public complaints about Leonard's injury were reportedly the last straw for Leonard, who now wants out of San Antonio.

State bans sale of sunscreens with coral-harming chemicals
Although the law will not take effect till 2021, it has already drawn opposition from various companies and business associations. Critics say there aren't enough independent scientific studies supporting the assertion that the chemicals harm coral reefs .

Parker is the third player in National Basketball Association history to play at least 17 seasons with one team before leaving.

This echoes what former San Antonio forward Sean Elliott said about Popovich and Leonard.

Tony Parker spent all of his first 17 seasons in the National Basketball Association in San Antonio, and over that span he won four National Basketball Association titles and was named to six All-Star teams. "From his first game in 2001 at age 19, TP has impressed and inspired us - day-after-day, game-after-game, season-after-season - with his passion, dedication and desire". Parker will play behind Kemba Walker in the Hornets' rotation.
