Apple Music is now "a hair ahead" of Spotify in the US

Apple Music might have overtaken Spotify and have more paying US subscribers

According to an anonymous source, that is said to be a major USA -based distributor, they shared a report with the website detailing the subscriber tallies of several streaming music services, including Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, and Sirius XM.

Both Apple Music and Spotify have more than 20 million subscribers in America, with Apple now a hair ahead.

Despite launching almost four years later, Apple Music's subscriber count has reportedly surpassed that of Spotify. Overall, Apple Music is said to have over 45 million subscribers globally with about 5-10 users on free trials. It's worth noting that Sirius XM Satellite Radio, which operates in North America exclusively, is now at the top spot with more than 33 million subscribers. This overtaking doesn't appear to be surprising - numerous reports over the past few months have noted Apple Music's accelerated growth in favor of Spotify, which logically lead to Cupertino dethroning the older streaming service.

Malaysia’s Mahathir to Visit China After Putting $20B of Projects on Ice
Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng had already raised questions over the payments for the pipeline projects to CPPB last month. On May 29, Mahathir announced that his new government would renegotiate terms of the ECRL deal.

Anyone who has been keeping up with this heated platform war shouldn't be too surprised at the results.

Back in February the Wall Street Journal learned Apple Music was on pace to surpass Spotify in terms of paid USA subscribers. Apple Music, on the other hand, has only been around for three years. However, considering the company filed to go public in the USA in April, reports that its primary competition there has made up what was once a massive lead won't be welcome news, especially to investors.
