Peter Navarro says 'there's a special place in hell' for Justin Trudeau

U.S. President Trump attends a G7 and Gender Equality Advisory Council meeting as part of a G7 summit in the Charlevoix city of La Malbaie

Surrounded by G7 leaders, President Donald Trump, and Trump alone, can be seen sitting - arms crossed.

Earlier that day, Trump also tweeted: "Please tell Prime Minister Trudeau and President Macron that they are charging the USA massive tariffs and create non-monetary barriers".

Trudeau's foreign minister responded by condemning "ad hominem attacks", and Germany and France criticised Trump's comments.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaks at the final press conference of the G7 summit.

"I have made it very clear to the president that it is not something we relish doing, but it something that we absolutely will do", Trudeau said.

The accusations largely confirmed the worst-case scenarios the government had for the G7 summit it was hosting in the picturesque Charlevoix region of Quebec where Trump was making his Canadian debut.

But California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a Democrat, said Trump wasn't just taking on Trudeau, but all of the United States' best allies by not signing the G-7 statement after a two-day meeting in Canada with leaders of the world's largest industrialized economies.

Navarro said Trump "did the courtesy to Justin Trudeau to travel up to Quebec for that summit".

The top White House economic adviser accused Canada's prime minister on Sunday of betraying Trump with "polarising" statements on USA trade policy that risked undermining the American leader on the eve of a historic summit with North Korea. "Least of all from subordinates of the president directed at the prime minister of their greatest friend and ally", he said.

"He is not going to permit any show of weakness on the trip to negotiate with North Korea", Kudlow said. Trudeau made an error.

Antarctica's Ice Is Melting Even Faster, and Scientists Are Deeply Worried
Almost all of the mass shed over the last quarter century has come from West Antarctica , the study found. Some studies had suggested a net gain in mass over recent decades.

She said with the Trump administration's decision to implement new tariffs on aluminum and steel imports to the United States, "multilateralism right now is in a complicated and hard phase".

"He is an unprecedented president and he's outside of all of the normal boundaries of behaviour for an American president".

And Trudeau has certainly been among the leaders in that regard in recent days.

Trudeau said he had been consistent with what he told Trump and at his speech.

"So he holds a press conference - the president is barely out of there on the plane to North Korea, and he starts insulting us, he starts talking about the U.S.is insulting Canada", Kudlow said. The US president accused Trudeau of giving false statements at his news conference.

Trudeau said the communique has "strong commitments about the actions we are going to take". He really actually, you know what?

He insisted, like Trump himself has done many times, that Canada has enormous tariffs itself - especially on certain dairy and food products.

"The U.S. pays close to the entire cost of NATO-protecting many of these same countries that rip us off on Trade (they pay only a fraction of the cost-and laugh!)", Trump tweeted.

Great meetings and relationships with the six Country Leaders especially since they know I can not allow them to apply large Tariffs and strong barriers to... United States of America. John McCain and ex-FBI director James Comey - who Trump unceremoniously fired previous year - took to Twitter to offer their support.

Speaking to the House of Commons, May said the other G-7 nations "expressed deep disappointment at the unjustified decision of the United States to apply tariffs to steel and aluminum imports" and urged dialogue to avoid "tit-for-tat escalation".
