New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr hits 232 not out, smashes women’s ODI record

New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr broke Belinda Clark’s 21-year-old record for the highest score in women’s ODI

By the time New Zealand's innings came to a close, Kerr had 31 fours [and just two sixes] to her name in an epochal performance that saw the Irish bowlers enjoy another day to erase from memory as swiftly as possible.

She broke a 21-year-old record for the highest women's ODI score after going past Belinda Clark's 221, which the Australian scored against Denmark.

Kerr is now the second women and seventh overall cricketer to go past the 200-run mark in one-day worldwide cricket.

White Ferns' 17-year-old star Amelia Kerr has smashed the record for the highest individual score in a women's ODI after hammering an unbeaten 232 in the 305-run win over Ireland in Dublin this morning.

"I think I heard them say stuff on the speaker and everyone was clapping but I had no idea", said Kerr, who had not even heard of the previous record holder and was born three years after Clark made her score.

Kerr then completed a remarkable double with a five-wicket bag with figures of 5-17 from seven overs to help the White Ferns complete a three-ODI series sweep of Ireland.

She was also involved in the second-highest partnership in women's ODI cricket, as she and Otago Sparks all-rounder Leigh Kasperek (113) piled on 285-runs for the second-wicket.

Satterthwaite, who scored 61, including 10 fours, from 45 balls, and Kerr posted 113 for the opening wicket. Amy Satterthwaite (61 off 45 balls) and Kerr provided the team with a ideal start, scoring 113 for the first wicket.

In the second ODI, they had posted 418. For the third straight time, New Zealand women went past the 400-run mark and finished on 440/3.
