Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music brings your tunes to your wrist

Garmin has clearly made music a priority with its latest wearables.

The process of adding music to the Vivoactive 3 is exactly the same as on the Forerunner 645 Music, which was Garmin's first watch to offer on-board music storage. The same is true of the life when using Global Positioning System with music, which Garmin places around five hours - the same as with the Forerunner 645 Music, which we found to be on the money.

The $300 Vivoactive 3 Music is on sale today with the exact same fitness features as the original, but now includes on-board music storage for up to 500 songs.

The Garmin Vivoactive 3 debuted past year and impressed us with its responsive touchscreen, a strong Global Positioning System signal that quickly locks in your location, and the addition of mobile payments. Garmin says that users are able to download offline music playlists from iHeartRadio All Access, with support for Deezer coming soon. I used Garmin Express for Mac to transfer my favorite Beyonce tracks to the Vivoactive 3, which took just a few seconds to sync.

Paul raccoon safely trapped on tower roof
A raccoon scaling the side of a skyscraper Tuesday has people all across the country watching its every move with bated breath. The raccoon's adventures inspired a lot of commentary on social media , from concerns about its safety to jokes.

The Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music is really for those who will take advantage of its music storage and offline listening. It also comes in at £100 cheaper than the Forerunner 645 Music, so if you can live without the more advanced metrics and want that music, it may well have some appeal. The non-music vivoactive 3 watch has dropped to $250. It has Global Positioning System, a heart-rate sensor and built-in Bluetooth to connect to your favorite pair of wireless running headphones. It works with Garmin Pay and is waterproof, too.

It's safe for swimming and showering, Garmin says, and features a battery life of up to seven days in smartwatch mode or five hours in Global Positioning System with music mode.

Why it matters: For many, music is a huge motivating factor during a workout and with Bluetooth headphones in wide circulation, we're seeing people listen to tunes in public more than ever.
